Vitamins are organic compounds, i.e. natural substances, necessary for the body for proper functioning, growth, development, and health. Given that the body does not produce them, their intake must be enabled through food or in the form of supplements based on vitamins or vitamin complexes. There are a total of 13 of them and they are divided into two groups, hydrosoluble – water-soluble vitamins (B group vitamins and vitamin C) and liposoluble – fat-soluble vitamins (D, E, K, A). The water-soluble ones are excreted from the body after a few hours, and the fat-soluble ones accumulate in the liver. Each vitamin has its role and their lack in the body can lead to the appearance of various illnesses and diseases. The most common cause of their deficiency is insufficient intake (accelerated lifestyle, inadequate diet, obligations…) or increased needs (exposure to stress, pregnancy, playing sports, consumption of nicotine and alcohol…)
